Tamarai is a 16 yrs young Coimbatore based fashion design studio where heritage and traditions are translated to suit the modern day. Specialists in exclusive ready to wear blouses, traditional halfsaree, exclusive sarees, wedding lehengas, kids wear, customised ethnic wear for men, natural dyed fabrics in khadi and silk, Kanjeevarams and a wide range of fabrics.
The boutique tour will help the students to know about the different types of fabrics, designs used and also the real feel of the fabrics. This gives a sense of connection and engagement with the customers as well as the interactions about the brands. Especially, during this tour students know more about the varieties of traditional outfits from different parts of India.
As a part of this boutique tour, a guest lecture has been arranged. The aim of the guest lecture is about how to start a boutique. It will also encourage the student to become an entrepreneur.
Fashion Entrepreneurship and Retailing focus on topics such as creativity and innovation, writing business plans, raising, finnace, sales and marketing and skills needed to run a creative company. Fashion entrepreneurs push the global fashion industry forward, through design innovation and new business models. The purpose of the Guest Lecture was to have a healthy interaction with students and make them understand the core aspects of Fashion Entrepreneurship and Retailing. Hence it is closely related to the subject.
In the span of June to December 2023, our academic community demonstrated outstanding achievements across diverse disciplines. Noteworthy accomplishments include SrinikaVasashmi G S and Vishrutha V K securing the 1st and 2nd ranks, respectively, in the Bharathiar University examinations for Interior Design. In B.Com Finance, Sruthi S claimed the 3rd rank, Midhya P M secured 4th rank, and LogeshKannan emerged as the top NPTEL gold scorer.
Fashion Designing accolades were earned by Hadassah Benny Cynthia, who clinched the 1st place, and Preseetha and SwethaSree, recipients of the Best Styling award.
DheenaDhayalan. S exhibited prowess by winning the Open State Level Deadlift Championship in Visual Communication, while Ajay C achieved the 2nd place in the National Karate Tournament. Additionally, Pavin showcased football excellence, earning the Best Player Award in a match organized by Bharathiar University, Shranesh, RithikRoshan, Yashwanth, Rithik and Sabrish of 2023 B.Sc (AIDS) participated and secured, 14th,19th,21st ,30th and 31st position, in Mini marathon organized by Bharathiar university.
In the realm of research, two articles were published in SCOPUS indexed journals, and the Commerce faculty received the Best Paper Award at a national conference. Engaging events included the National Seminar on "Revolutionizing Fashion," where two faculties from Apparel and Fashion Designing participated, and the Viscom department's "Media Connect’23" workshop unveiling media trends. Enriching the learning experience, all departments organized numerous field trips, industrial visits, and guest lectures.
The Rotaract Club of our college and BBA Department jointly organized an outreach program on September 22-23 to the Attappadi tribal village. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about education and address basic needs within the community, highlighting our commitment to social responsibility and community service. This semester has been marked by multifaceted achievements, emphasizing our dedication to holistic education and excellence in various domains.
